To celebrate this special crochet day, what could be better than a free granny square pattern. We had a dig around the archives and found this beautiful square from back in 2015, flowers and granny squares – the perfect combination!
You will need
■ DK cotton in the following shades:
Yarn A red
Yarn B claret
Yarn C pink
Yarn D pale blue
■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook
With Yarn A, ch10, ss into the first ch to form a ring.
Round 1 (RS) Ch2 (counts as first half of tr2tog), tr into the ring, ch2, (tr2tog, ch2) 11 times, ss to the top of the first tr2tog to join. Fasten off.
Round 2 Join Yarn B in any ch-2 sp, ch2 (counts as part of cluster), 3-tr cluster into the same ch-2 sp, ch3, (4-tr cluster into the next ch-2 sp, ch3) 11 times, ss into top of the first cluster to join. Fasten off.
Round 3 Join Yarn C in top of any cluster, ch5 (counts as 1htr, ch3), *skip the next ch-3 sp, (3-tr cluster, ch2, 3-tr cluster, ch5, 3-tr cluster, ch2, 3-tr cluster) into the next ch-3 sp, ch3, skip the next ch-3 sp, 1htr into top of next cluster, ch3; repeat from * three times more, omitting the last htr and ch3, ss to the second ch of the beginning ch-5 to join. Fasten off.
Round 4 Join Yarn D in any htr, ch1 (does not count as st), work 1dc into the top of htr, work dc evenly around with 1dc for every ch in each ch-sp and 1dc in the top of each cluster and each htr, ss to the first dc to join. Fasten off and weave in ends.
