In Simply Crochet issue 64 you’ll find our new Hook to Hook designer challenge, and this issue it features designs by Claire Guy and Tuula Kyrölä. They were both given two shades of Designer Yarns Choice Basics DK and challenged to design us a Christmas teapot cosy.
“I was really excited to take part in this challenge, especially as it’s Christmas themed, because it’s my absolute favourite time of year”, Claire told us, “I definitely found it a challenge because I had to work in DK and I usually work in chunky and super chunky yarn. I chose to do an elf hat because what could be more Christmassy?! I also make a lot of hats (it’s kinda my thing, if you will) and any chance I get to make a pompom, I’m all over it!” For more from Claire, find her online at www.etsy.com/shop/CraftyClarenceShop
For Tuula the hook to hook challenge combined three of her favourite things, “Crochet, tea and Christmas. I’ve always loved creating decorations. For years I sold Christmas-related crochet at craft fairs and now I have a blog just for Christmas designs. The inspiration behind the tea cosy was thinking back to when my children were small and I used to find new ways of hiding little surprises every morning in the weeks before Christmas. Pockets in a tea cosy are ideal for that!” Tuula’s Christmas blog is at www.knit-crochet-christmas.com
You can vote for your favourite of these two designs on our Simply Crochet Instagram page – double tap on the one you prefer. And one lucky reader will win all the Debbie Bliss Pure Bliss yarn that you need to make the project.
The competition closes on Wednesday 15th November 2017 at 1 pm, and for full terms and conditions click here.
