In Simply Crochet issue 63 you’ll find our new Hook to Hook designer challenge, and this issue it features designs by Pat Strong and Sharon Murphy. They were both given three shades of Debbie Bliss Pure Bliss yarn and challenged to design us some winter accessories.
Knit and crochet designer Pat Strong also owns a yarn shop in Glasgow. She told us that festive candy canes influenced her playful hat project for this month’s designer challenge: “The inspiration came from the three yarn colours – I thought of candy stripes. The stitch was a simple double crochet to make it workable for all, and everyone likes a pompom!” For the latest yarn shop gossip and a peek at Pat’s creative blog, head to www.craicnyarn.com. You’ll also find her as @craicnyarn on Instagram
Tea and gin loving Sharon (our kinda girl) is a crochet designer and blogger. When we asked her what inspired this cosy Hook to Hook make, she told us: “This yarn is incredibly soft, just like clouds! I love contrast and unexpected combinations so I wanted to make a rather firm strong fabric with a striking geometric design. The tassels give a fun festive feel to the cowl.” You can see what Sharon has been hooking lately and check out the rest of her crochet patterns at www.mycrochetmakes.com.
You can vote for your favourite of these two designs on our Simply Crochet Instagram page – double tap on the one you prefer. And one lucky reader will win all the Debbie Bliss Pure Bliss yarn that you need to make the project.
The competition closes on Wednesday 18th October 2017 at 1 pm, and for full terms and conditions click here.
