The first ever International Loch Ness Knit Fest took place at Eden Court in Inverness from 29 September to 2 October and we were there to join in the fun. Over the four days, we found inspiration in Scottish yarn and craft supplies in the Marketplace, got creative with yarn demos in the Crafting Village and learnt new crochet stitches in the fantastic workshops. Take a look at our hooky highlights.
The venue had been suitably yarnbombed for the occasion – how fantastic is this cosy car cover, made with colourful knitted and crocheted squares and panels?
The Crafting Village was bustling with activity and, to our delight, bursting with wool. Fabulous fibres and handmade Loch Ness monsters were in abundance.
On Friday afternoon, we attended a Tunisian crochet workshop run by top Danish designer Pernille Cordes. With her expertise, we learnt Tunisian simple stitch and how to use it to to create amazing colour work effects.
Our favourite part of the show by far was the Loch Ness Knit Cruise. We had a fantastic tour of the famous Loch while we hooked away on our latest projects, along with lots of other stitchers from the show – brilliant!
We can’t wait until next year. To find out more about Loch Ness Knit Fest, visit their website, and look out for more on our Highland adventures in an issue of Simply Crochet coming soon.
